Artist Statement

I hate seeing things wasted. It bothers me to see something get discarded when it still has use. Moving on to a new thing and throwing out the old thing unnecessarily is a habit, and it is one that I try very hard not to develop. I like to embrace the old and forgotten. This is a principle of my every day life, and it is the essence of my work. I believe that by recycling discarded ideas and combing them with elements of the present, as well as new ideas, you can create something fantastic. This is what I try to prove with the films I make. I do not wish to copy ideas from older media. Instead I would like to reintroduce those ideas, and take them further.
The goal of my work is to create the future of media. A future that reflects the past, just as our current reality is a repeat of history.  I draw inspiration from many artists who have created a new standard for their craft. I admire directors such as David Lynch, for being unafraid of creating his own style of imagery, and David Fincher, for incorporating experimental elements into his mainstream films. I also admire musicians such as Julian Casablancas, for making full use of musical styles and motifs that have already existed, in order to create something fresh and powerful.  These artists all possess the qualities that I aspire to have myself.
